Disability Grief Gathering COHORT (8 sessions)
Inspired by the drop-in Disability Grief Gatherings that Katie started hosting in 2025, this is a longer format peer circle centred on community building, education, emotional processing, and expanding our capacities to hold both grief and ease as disabled and chronically ill folks. This is open to anyone who self-identifies as disabled or chronically ill.
We’ll meet weekly for 8 weeks to check in, share, and expand on different aspects of the grief journey, coming to understand grief as an ever evolving rhythm that invites us deeply into ourselves and the world with care and tenderness. As disabled and chronically ill people, we hold so much innate wisdom. This expanded group setting creates a more intimate space for us to explore our threads of shared lived experience and the ways in which we are different. Each week will follow a lightly guided theme and include time and space to share what’s coming up for you in your grief landscape. All types of grief are welcome, whether or not they are related to disability. Come as you are.
The goals of this series are to:
build space and capacity within yourself to be with the hard stuff
receive and give support in community
gather some tools to “be with” grief in a way that’s safe and accessible for you
develop your own language of grief expression
be part of a community that “gets it”
Some of the themes we’ll cover throughout this program include: guided writing to self, creating personal grief rituals, the Seven Languages of Sorrow created by Stephen Garrett, making meaning of our losses, and understanding/expressing our grief as it relates to illness and disability.
