she / her / hers
I am a yoga teacher and educator, leading accessible & adaptive yoga asana and meditation classes that focus on mellow-paced therapeutic movement, mindfulness, and restorative practices. My work centers making yoga accessible for everyone, and especially for folks who are so often excluded from conventional yoga spaces, such as people with disabilities and chronic illness/pain. My background is in hatha-vinyasa yoga rooted in classical Tantrik philosophy, yin & restorative, yoga nidra, chair yoga, yoga for older adults, and trauma-informed yoga facilitation. I offer deep reverence and gratitude to my teachers and the many teachers who have come before, and offer particular appreciation to those of South Asian descent from whose cultural and ancestral knowledge & practices I benefit.
I have spent the last several years of my career focusing primarily on facilitating adaptive practices for a wide variety of student populations in both group and 1:1 settings, including in yoga studios, retirement & long term care communities, healthcare facilities, corporate workplaces, and online. I’m a faculty member in the yoga teacher training programs at The Vancouver School of Healing Arts. I also run my own virtual studio focused on gentle, therapeutic, and adaptive yoga, with several classes running throughout the week.
I’m a queer, disabled woman living with multiple chronic illnesses and chronic pain, which has deepened my interest in making yoga more accessible to the chronically ill and disabled communities. As someone who has often felt uncomfortable in many conventional yoga studios, I aim to cultivate more equitable, welcoming, and judgement-free spaces.
I’m grateful to live and work as an uninvited guest on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples (known as Vancouver, BC).
